Opening a distillery?

A few things to know...

The Alberta Craft Distillers Association is a member based organization formed to further the interests of established Alberta Craft Distilleries.  The more high quality distilleries that open in Alberta the better known great Alberta spirits will be.

There are significant legislative requirements that must be met, each potential applicant must be prepared to do their own research which ACDA is unable to assist with. It is extremely important to understand the legislation, regulations and policy directives which govern the distilling industry in Canada and Alberta

The best places for information for opening up a new craft distillery are:

Canada Revenue agency

The excise tax division is reponsible for administration of distilleries under the authority granted by the Excise Tax Act

Alberta Gaming and liquor commission

The AGLC is responsible for licensing at the provincial level and the administration of the Alberta Liquor and Gaming Act.
